Please note that Sod Source is based in Middle Tennessee. For clients outside of Middle TN, we only offer Sod Delivery and Installation (no prep or other services at this time).

Custom Services
In addition to sod delivery and installation, Sod Source also provides a range of custom services for clients with land that requires additional care. While some lawns can be easily prepared for sod installation, others need extra work before sod can be laid. The experienced sod landscaping team at Sod Source is happy to help you determine which service your lawn needs before sod can be installed.
We offer the following custom services:
Total Reestablishment By Seed
If the grade and soil are determined to be sufficient but the turf is diseased with thick thatch, then we will kill off the existing lawn with Glyphosate (Roundup), a non-selective herbicide that will kill all plants it comes into contact with. It takes 7-10 days for glyphosate to kill the existing lawn. During this time, you should avoid walking on the lawn or watering it. After 7-10 days, we will return to harley rake the lawn, which removes any remaining debris and prepares the lawn for seeding. Finally, our team will apply seed and straw. The seed will help to establish a new lawn, and the straw will help to keep the seed moist and prevent it from being eaten by birds.
Total Reestablishment By Sod
If the grade and soil are determined to be sufficient but the turf is diseased with thick thatch, we can remove the diseased turf and thatch in order to prepare the area for new sod. First we will use a skid steer to scrape a small layer of the topsoil off of the area where the new sod will be installed. Once the area has been cleared of debris, the new sod can be applied. The sod should be laid out so that the seams are tight and the cuts are nice and smooth. Tightening the seams and making smooth cuts helps prevent weeds from growing through your new sod.
Total Lawn Reconstruction
This service involves adding and working in topsoil for proper root shoot and top growth. Total lawn reconstruction may be necessary if your lawn is dead or dying, overgrown with weeds, or is otherwise in poor condition. The process begins with removing all existing vegetation, either by scraping or using a herbicide. After vegetation is removed, topsoil can be added to the area. The topsoil will be spread evenly and compacted to ensure proper grade. Once the grade is level, we will install your new sod. You will be left with a lush and level lawn that will be the envy of all your neighbors.
Erosion Control
Commercial erosion control services are crucial for protecting the environment, preventing soil loss, controlling sedimentation, and ensuring worker safety on construction sites. We offer a range of effective erosion control solutions including silt fencing, safety and tree fencing, sediment tubes, and erosion control blankets.
